Hello Fifth Grade Families!
My name is Ms. Warner and I am pleased to be your child's fifth grade teacher! This is going to be my Third year here at Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences and I am very excited for all the fun I have planned for Social Studies this year! It is going to be a big year with lots of learning!
I have lived in Michigan all my life and I graduated from Michigan State University (Go Green!) with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education in 2012. Throughout my life, I have always enjoyed working with children including volunteering, being a camp counselor, and of course teaching! There is nothing more enjoyable than seeing a child understanding and learning new ideas.
This year in Humanities we will be focusing Mondays and Tuesdays strictly on Language Arts. During Language Arts students will be working on their fundamental skills working with sentence structure, parts of speech, grammar, and many other important skills. Wednesday-Friday we will be working on Social Studies. In Social Studies this year the student will be learning about many different topics including Our Government, Colonial Life in America, The Road to the Revolution, the Revolutionary War, and many more. This is going to be a year full of learning new and exciting ideas and I can't wait to see the progress that your students show.
As your child's teacher, it is my goal to not only teach, but to care for your child to make sure they are in a safe learning environment for them to grow as students. It is my hope that we will be able to work together as partners to help further your child's education.
Please do not hesitate to contact me via phone or email. You may also set up appointments to meet with me in person.
